Softball To Play in NACC Championship Game

The Benedictine University softball team eliminated #2 Concordia University-Wisconsin then defeated #1 Aurora University to earn a spot in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship game.

THE SCORING DETAILS
• After a scoreless first inning, Concordia-Wisconsin took a 1-0 lead in the second
• The Eagles tallied three runs in the third after Shannon Fritsche tallied a two-RBI double and later scored on a passed ball
• Kailee Cable but BenU up 4-1 with a homerun over the center field fence in the fifth inning
• Concordia-Wisconsin connected for a homerun in the sixth but it wasn't enough as the Eagles eliminated the Falcons to move on to the Championship
 
THE STATS
• Fritsche was 2-4 with two RBI and a run scored
• Kassee Johnson was 2-3 with a run scored
• Kelli Holstine, Holly Haberkorn and Cable each had a hit
• Haberkorn allowed five hits and struck out three in seven innings

THE SCORING DETAILS
• Benedictine scored after a Melissa Stoch homer to center field in the second inning
• Four scoreless innings would pass before the Eagles tallied another run in the sixth off a Breanna Sobotka single to center field
• The Eagles tallied their third run in the seventh on a Courtney Grasz single, scoring Fritsche who walked earlier in the inning

THE STATS
• Grasz and Stoch were both 2-4 with an RBI
• Sobotka was 2-3 with an RBI
• Melissa Guzior allowed seven hits with two strikeouts
 
UP NEXT
The Eagles will face Aurora game in the NACC Championship game. The winner will advance to the 2016 NCAA Softball Championship.
