LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's soccer teams kicked off the 2016 season and a new era with a 2-0 win over Lake Forest College at home on Thursday night.

THE DETAILS
• Both goals came in the second half of action
• Benedictine dictated the pace but could not break through in the opening 45
• The first opportunity of the second half produced success as
Nick Kapetanos converted on a penalty kick in the 49th minute to give Benedictine a 1-0 lead
• Just over 10 minutes later a second opportunity presented itself and
Aldreiron Smith poked home a feed from Kapetanos to push the margin to 2-0
• The goal marked the first in the career for Smith and came on his only shot of the night
• Benedictine controlled possession in the second and limited the chances for Lake Forest to notch a win over a team that was picked to finish second in the Midwest Conference and reached the NCAA Tournament last season

• Benedictine held an 11-3 advantage in shots, holding a margin of 8-2 in the first half
• Kapetanos tallied six shots with a goal and an assist
