OREGON, WI - The Benedictine University men's soccer team opened play in the NACC by doubling up Edgewood College on the road 4-2.

THE DETAILS
• The pace of the contest became frantic from the start
• Following an opportunity from Alex Unzueta that missed wide right, Benedictine was granted a penalty kick
• Drew Schmucker made the most of the opportunity with a goal into the lower left for the lone first half tally
• Benedictine missed on three attempts after the penalty to further the lead
• Erik Stammer took the opening kickoff of the second half for a long run to extend the lead to 2-0 on a feed from Santiago Beltran
• Less than 10 minutes later Nick Kapetanos blasted home a penalty kick to stretch the edge to 3-0
• A pair of goals six minutes apart pulled the hosts within 3-2
• Stammer iced the victory with a tally in the 87th minute off a pass from Aldeiron Smith from 15 yards out

STAT LEADERS
• The goal from Kapetanos enabled the junior to surpass the 100-point mark in his career
• The contest featured a combined 36 shots with 20 coming from Benedictine
• Stammer tallied six shots with Kapetanos and Beltran adding three each
• Antonio Marti-Polo played the entire game in net, making one save
