Eagles Fall in Day Two of NACC/IIAC Crossover

Benedictine women's volleyball went 0-2 in the second day of the NACC/IIAC Crossover Challenge, falling to Simpson and Luther.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine led for most the first set but allowed Simpson to tie it at 23 and score two straight for the 25-23 loss
• The Eagles suffered on serve receive the entire match, tallying 14 serve receive errors, which also cost them the second set, 25-15
• After a back and forth third set, an Emily Chitwood kill put BenU up 24-23 en route to a 26-24 win
• Benedictine trailed in the fourth set and tied it at 20 on a Kara Epping kill but two straight Simpson kills gave them the push they needed for the win
 
STAT LEADERS
• As a team, Simpson out-hit BenU 54 to 47 kills and had 61 digs compared to BenU's 47
• The Eagles had 14 reception errors with eight aces
• Taylor Dunwell recorded 10 kills while Epping and Erin Wiegand each had nine kills
• Kristina Billie led all players with 21 digs while Kelcey Adams and Colleen Corbett combined for 34 assists

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine led the entire first set and only tallied six kills and a -.032 hitting percentage in the loss
• Luther's offense caught fire in the second set, tallying 14 kills and only two errors (.324 hitting percentage)
• Benedictine led 3-0 to begin the third set but allowed Luther to go on a 20-2 run en route to a 25-9 loss
• The Eagles again struggled defensively, recording 10 serve receive errors in the match
 
STAT LEADERS
• Dunwell and Chitwood each had five kills while Billie had 15 digs
• Adams had 13 assists and five digs
