Women's Volleyball Defeats Eureka



The Benedictine University women's volleyball team won a four-set match on the road, defeating Eureka College in a non-conference contest.

STAT LEADERS
• Erin Wiegand led all players with 13 kills for a .303 hitting percentage
• Emily Chitwood recorded 11 kills while Claudia Schmidt had nine kills and a .348 hitting percentage
• Keriann Groen grabbed 10 kills and six block assists
• Kelcey Adams led the way with 35 assists while Caitlyn Martin had 15 digs
• Kristina Billie recorded a team-high 19 digs with two aces
• As a team, Benedictine tallied 51 kills, 81 digs and 13 blocks
 
FROM THE COACH
"We did a lot of nice things tonight and it was definitely a total team effort," said head coach Jennifer Wildes. "I think we took a step forward tonight and we are looking forward to building together as a team."
 
UP NEXT
Benedictine, who is now 2-3, travels to Bloomington, IL to compete in the Illinois Wesleyan University Tournament over the weekend. On Friday, the Eagles play Coe College at 3:30 p.m. followed by a 5:30 p.m. contest against MacMurray College. At 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, BenU takes on Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Simpson College at 12:00 p.m.
