Women's Volleyball Ends Season With Win


LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University women's volleyball team ended the season on a winning note, sweeping MSOE to split the final day of the Eagle Classic.

• Elmhurst scored the first three points of the opening set and did not trail, hitting .312
• Back-to-back kills from Taylor Dunwell put Benedictine ahead 3-1 to start the second
• Benedictine last led in the second at 7-6 on a kill from Lauren Wieber
• The third set saw Benedictine open with seven consecutive points, three of which came on kills from Kendall Holmes
• Elmhurst responded by scoring the next six to pull within 7-6
• Benedictine continued to lead at 13-9 before Elmhurst went on an 8-0 run
• Trailing by seven at 21-14, Benedictine battled to take a brief 24-23 lead on a kill from Dunwell set up by Vanessa Possidoni
• Dunwell staved off match point once, tying the score at 24-24, but Elmhurst netted the final two to score the victory

MSOE
• Benedictine trailed just once in the opening set at 4-3 before ripping off four straight to take control
• Benedictine scored the final three points to streak to the win
• MSOE opened the second set with seven straight points
• After a timeout while trailing 18-13, Benedictine responded with eight straight to grab a 21-18 lead
• A kill from Dunwell opened the runs an a Wieber kill capped the stretch
• Chelsi Blair served an ace to finish out the set
• A third set comeback led the way to a sweep
• Benedictine trailed 10-4 at one point but consecutive kills from Holmes tied the contest and put Benedictine ahead
• Benedictine hit .269 in the third set and finished with 16 kills
• MSOE swept Benedictine earlier in the season in a conference contest
