Late Goal Lifts Women's Soccer to NACC Tourney Win


AURORA, IL - The Benedictine University women's soccer team scored with under three minutes left to rally past third-seeded Aurora University and win an opening round contest in the NACC Tournament. The victory marked the first NACC Tournament win in program history.

• Abbie Graham created an opportunity right from the get-go but could not score
• Aurora opened a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute with a goal on a cross
• Benedictine was able to respond quickly
• After being caught offside in the 11th minute, Benedictine netted the equalizer 45 seconds later
• Danielle Melotte finished a cross from Graham in the 12th minute to tie the score
• Aurora took the lead in the 23rd minute on a header, capping a busy early sequence to the match
• The hosts held a 2-1 lead at the intermission
• Aurora created chances early in the second half, but Benedictine again tied the score on their first opportunity
• Melotte set up a 1-on-1 break with a through pass to Taylor Pokorny, who netted her fourth of the season in the 57th minute
• Both teams traded chance before Benedictine tallied the game-winner
• Jocelyn Ferrer picked the right time to score her first career goal, converting on a touch pass after a corner kick in the 88th minute
• Megan Anderson and Melotte set up the winner, which put Benedictine ahead for the first time
