Men's Hoops Slowed in Season Opener


OSHKOSH, WI - The Benedictine University men's basketball team scored just eight points in the final five minutes of the contest, dropping the season opener to UW-Oshkosh on the road.

• Benedictine led for much of the first half
• Down 6-2 early, Benedictine used a 7-0 run to move ahead 9-6 at the 15:31 mark
• Kejuan Glosson opened the run with a three-pointer while Eric Grygo finished the spurt with a layup
• Benedictine would lead by as many as six points in a half that featured five ties and seven lead changes
• The six-point margin came on a layup from Kenny Bogus, making the score 15-9 with 13:06 left in the half
• Leading 33-30 at halftime, Benedictine scored the first eight points of the second to jump in front 41-30 on a three from Brayden Olson
• The lead was still at double-digits with 16:02 remaining at 44-34
• Behind a 9-2 run, the hosts quickly pulled within 46-43
• UW-Oshkosh tied the game twice, but could not take the lead
• A three-pointer tied the game at 60 and another triple moments later put Oshkosh ahead for good at 63-60 with 4:25 to play
• The lead would reach eight in the final moments as a result of free throws
• UW-Oshkosh connected on 11 free throws in the final 3:23
• The loss marked the first in a season opener since the 2013-14 campaign

• Benedictine shot 42.6 percent for the game while limiting UW-Oshkosh to 34.9 percent
• Benedictine made only three three-point attempts on 23 tries while Oshkosh knocked down 10
• Oshkosh, an NCAA team last season who is receiving votes in the preseason Top 25, connected on 20-of-26 free throw attempts while holding a 47-39 edge on the glass
• Benedictine was just 7-for-14 from the stripe
• Bogus finished with a career best 24 points, pacing three in double figures
• Olson added 18 with Grygo notching 10
