LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's basketball team ended the non-conference season with an overtime loss to visiting Elmhurst College on Thursday night.

Elmhurst 97, Benedictine 90 - OT
• Benedictine jumped out to a 5-0 lead with
Brayden Olson accounting for all five, setting the tone for another strong individual performance
• Benedictine continued to lead until the 8:44 mark of the half
• The visitors used an 11-2 run to turn the tide and grab a 31-25 lead with 7:25 to play in the half
• Consecutive three-pointers from
Kenny Bogus and Olson tied the game with 5:49 to go but Elmhurst led by as many as eight and held a 48-42 halftime advantage
• Elmhurst posted back-to-back three-pointers to open the largest lead of the game, a 54-44 edge, just four minutes into the second
• Benedictine stormed back with a 23-6 spurt to grab a 67-60 lead at the nine minute marker
• A three-pointer from Bogus put Benedictine in front at 62-60 as part of the run
• Elmhurst did not go away, nailing back-to-back threes to tie the game at 71 with 5:05 left
• Jens Soderholm drained a three-pointer with 48 seconds remaining to hand Benedictine an 81-79 advantage, but Elmhurst tied the game on a layup with 14 seconds remaining and a last ditch effort was blocked
• Eric Grygo struck with the first basket of overtime and Benedictine also led 85-83 and 87-86 on four points from Olson
• Benedictine was stuck on 87 as Elmhurst launched a 9-0 run to score the win
• The contest featured eight ties and 11 lead changes
• Benedictine led for 20:17 while Elmhurst led for 20:21 and the game was tied for 4:21
• Olson led all scorers with 36 points, his third 30-point performance of the season
• Olson connected on 13 field goals including five from three-point land
• Soderholm tacked on 17 off the bench with Bogus contributing 15 along with seven rebounds, six assists and four blocks
• Grygo finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double
• Benedictine shot 56.7 percent from the floor in the first half and finished the game shooting 48.6 percent
• Elmhurst held a 45-37 advantage on the glass

Benedictine (6-4) plays nothing but conference games the rest of the way and returns to action against Dominican on December 30 at 2:00 p.m.
