Women's Hoops Pulls Closer to First

LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University women's basketball team pulled within a game of first place by knocking off Wisconsin Lutheran College for the first time since 2010 at home.

Benedictine did not score for nearly the first seven minutes of the game, but strong defense limited Wisconsin Lutheran to just a 3-0 lead
• Roxanna Gaddis scored the first five points off the bench, handing Benedictine a 5-3 lead with a three-pointer at the 1:56 mark of the first
• Gaddis netted seven points in the first quarter as Benedictine led 9-5 after one
• The lead extended to double figures in the second as Benedictine led for the entire 10 minutes
• Gaddis kicked off a 9-0 run with a layup and a finish from D'Asia Williams made the lead 22-12 with just 2:19 left in the first half
• Benedictine held a 23-17 lead at the break
• Wisconsin Lutheran tallied eight straight midway through the third when it looked like Benedictine may run away
• The visitors took a 35-34 lead with 2:47 remaining in the third
• Benedictine countered with a run of 8-1 to take a 43-36 edge on a three from Payton Sims in the final minute of the quarter
• Eight in a row to open the final frame enabled Wisconsin Lutheran to take a brief 44-43 lead
• Benedictine responded with six in a row to re-take the lead and did not relinquish the remainder of the contest
• The lead changed five times, but Benedictine led for 31:17 of the contest
• The victory broke a stretch of 16 consecutive defeats to Wisconsin Lutheran
