Baseball Rolls Past UW-Stevens Point

AUBURNDALE, FL - The Benedictine University baseball team made quick work of UW-Stevens Point on Thursday in Florida.

THE DETAILS
•
Joe Palasiewicz threw a complete game and allowed just an unearned run on four hits while striking out six, notching his first win of the year
• Benedictine wasted no time in handing Palasiewicz all the run support he would need, scoring three times in the top of the first
• With one away, Jimmy McLaughlin singled and Chayancze Stirbis followed with a double
• McLaughlin scored on a bases loaded passed ball
• Dom DeMicco lifted a sacrifice fly and Andrew Hotze added an RBI single
• Nick Severino added a sacrifice fly in the second to push the lead to 4-0
• The contest really broke open with four runs in the third
• DeMicco led off with a walk against a new hurler and scored when Hotze doubled
• Severino and McLaughlin added RBI singles while a fourth run scored on an error to make the score 8-1
• Erik Callaghan coaxed a bases loaded walk in the fifth while Hotze drove home two more with a double in the seventh

The complete game for Palasiewicz marked the second of the trip for the pitching staff
• The 11 runs marked the second most of the season while the team rapped out 14 hits
• Five individuals posted hits with all five collecting more than one
• McLaughlin finished with four while Hotze notched three with four RBIs

• Benedictine also drew eight walks
• Severino and Stirbis also notched a pair of hits
