Eagles Win on Senior Day

Senior Jeremy Villarreal was honored before the Benedictine University men's volleyball match on Saturday. The Eagles went on to win their fourth straight match, a 3-0 sweep of Lakeland University.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine took an 8-2 lead in set one
• Coming off a career high in kills on Friday night, Elijah Medlock had five kills in the set while the Eagles recorded 14 kills and hit .367
• Lakeland took the lead in set two but the Eagles tied it at 20 on a Medlock kill
• Benedictine had 18 kills in the 25-23 win
• The Eagles trailed the entire third set until Lakeland rallied back at the end to tie it at 24
• The third set saw 12 ties and four lead changes before a Medlock kill and an LU error sealed the 35-33 win
• Medlock had his second straight career high match and led all players with 22 kills
• Benedictine led Lakeland in all categories with 52 kills, 67 digs and 8.5 blocks

"The guys fought super hard through a tough match and I am so happy we sent Jeremy out on such a great note for his last home match," said head coach Dan Buehring. "The guys really looked like a team and battled hard."
 
UP NEXT
Benedictine men's volleyball, now 11-11 overall and 10-7 in MCVL action, finish conference play next weekend when they travel to Wisconsin to take on MSOE on Friday at 7pm followed by a 3pm match against Carthage on Saturday.
