Baseball Splits with Dominican

SCHAUMBURG, IL - Frank Greco threw a complete game shutout in the opener, but the Benedictine University baseball team had to settle for a split at Dominican University on Saturday.

THE DETAILS
•
Greco dazzled in the opener, allowing just five hits and six baserunners
• The sophomore improve to 7-0 on the season in as many starts, striking out five and leaving the tying run at second in the ninth
• The lone run came across in the top of the second
• Erik Callaghan collected a one-out double and following a walk to Brandon Gipson, D.J. Dillon singled home the difference
• Dominican built a 3-0 lead in the first inning of the second game, but Benedictine was quick to tie the contest with three in the second
• Callaghan ignited a two-out rally with a single and a stolen base, reaching third on an error
• Sam Kerr put Benedictine on the board with an RBI single
• Nick Severino and Jack Feeley would also single home runs in the inning
• Dominican was able to score twice in the third to end the day for starter Ryan Miller
• The hosts scored in four different innings, building a lead of 8-3
• The final Benedictine tally came in the sixth on a sacrifice fly from Marco D'Angelo
• Dominican ended the game with five runs in the last of the eighth

STAT LEADERS

Benedictine managed just four hits, coming from four different individuals in the opener
• Tanner Kiser saw the longest hit streak in the conference come to a close at 17 games
• Six different pitchers appeared in game two with only Frank Meisl logging a scoreless outing
• Six of the Dominican runs came unearned as the hosts took advantage of five errors
• Dominican notched 17 hits while Benedictine posted 10 in the second game
• Eight individuals collected hits for Benedictine with Severino and Callaghan each picking up two
