Softball Season Ends in NCAA Regional

The Benedictine University softball team ended the 2017 season with a 4-1 loss against NCAA regional host University of Wisconsin La Crosse. Earlier in the day, the Eagles defeated St. Norbert College 4-0.
 
THE FINAL – GAME ONE
Benedictine 4, St. Norbert 0
 
THE DETAILS
• With two outs in the first, the Eagles tallied two runs off of four hits
• Courtney Grasz started the rally with a single to right field and made it to third on a Holly Haberkorn single up the middle
• Selena Kweder and Emily Moore followed with RBI singles
• Neither team would score again until the sixth when BenU tallied two runs off of three hits and two SNC errors
• Moore and Breanna Sobotka tallied singles while Kelli Holstine drove in the final run of the game
• The loss ended the season for St. Norbert (21-6)
• The win advanced BenU to take on UW-La Crosse

THE DETAILS
• La Crosse wasted no time and put two runs on the board in the first
• The second inning saw La Crosse tally one run off of one hit and one BenU error to take a 3-0 lead
• Another error in the fifth gave UW-La Crosse another run but the Eagles answered back in the sixth with a run of their own, an RBI single from Kweder
• It wasn't enough though as the Eagles season came to an end after not scoring in the seventh
• Benedictine ends the season with a 34-13 overall record
• On the mound, Haberkorn (23-6) allowed eight hits in 6.0 innings with two strikeouts and three earned runs
