Fritsche Walk Off Lifts Eagles Over Dominican

A walk-off homerun in the bottom of the eighth inning from Shannon Fritsche lifted Benedictine University softball to a 6-4 win over #5 Dominican University in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament on Thursday night in Milwaukee, WI.

THE DETAILS
• Before today's game, Benedictine and Dominican faced each other on Tuesday to end the regular season, splitting a doubleheader in Lisle, IL
• Dominican took the lead in the first, tallying two runs off of four hits
• The Stars expanded their lead after a homerun to take a 3-0 lead in the third
• Benedictine responded in the bottom of the frame after Selena Kweder doubled and Shannon Fritsche scored her on a sac fly
• Courtney Grasz added another run with her eighth homerun of the season
• The Eagles tied the game at three in the fifth after Holly Haberkorn scored Fritsche who doubled earlier in the inning
• Neither team's offense could tally a run after that, forcing extra innings
• Dominican took the lead in the top of the eighth with one run off of three hits
• In the bottom of the frame and with one out Kelli Holstine doubled
• Down to the last out and last strike, Kassee Johnson singled to score Holstine and tie the game
• In the next at-bat, Fritsche pounded her seventh homerun of the season down the left field line to give BenU the 6-4 win
