GRENVILLE, IL - The Benedictine University women's soccer team opened the year with a 1-0 loss at Greenville University in the St. Louis area, beginning a weekend venture to open the season.

• Benedictine produced the first three shots of the game early
• Holly Ward missed right in the third minute and
Danielle Melotte also missed wide in the fourth minute
• Janae Heaney was denied on a save in the 10th minute
• Scoreless at the break, Benedictine held a 10-3 edge in shots during the opening 45
• The lone goal of the game came in the 57th minute
• Megan Anderson and
Sammie Sarles had attempts to tie stopped by the Greenville keeper
• Benedictine held a 14-11 advantage in shots for the game and put five on goal
• Cassidy Henson stopped three shots between the pipes
• Sarles and
Abbie Graham each finished with three shots
• Anderson put two on target

Benedictine (0-1) continues the season opening trip at Webster on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
