Women's Volleyball Competes in Virginia Beach

The Benedictine University women's volleyball team opened up the season on the east coast, splitting a pair of games in Virginia Beach, VA.

• After getting their jitters out of the way and allowing Marymount to tally four straight points in the first set, Benedictine powered back to tie it at 19 after a Vanessa Possidoni ace
• Marymount pulled away to score four of the next five points but kills from Kendall Holmes and Claudia Schmidt tied it at 24
• The Marymount offense was too much to handle as they went on to win 26-24
• In the second set Marymount took an early lead and never looked back, holding the Eagles to just eight kills and a .030 hitting percentage in the 25-15 loss
• Benedictine took the lead in the third set with four straight serves from Possidoni
• The teams traded points until Marymount caught fire and tied it at 21
• They would end the match on four straight kills, winning 25-23

• Against host Virginia Wesleyan University, the Eagles trailed in the first set early on but continued to pick away at their deficit
• The Eagles came within two points but it was too late, falling 25-23
• Benedictine took a 19-16 lead in set two after an Alyssa O'Boyle ace but VWU went on a 3-0 run later on to tie it at 23 - the Eagles could not recover falling 25-23
• It was all Virginia Wesleyan in the third set as they tallied 14 kills for the 25-17 win
