The Dominican University offense was on fire from the start as they defeated the Benedictine University women's volleyball in straight sets in their home opener on Wednesday night in the Dan and Ada Rice Center.

Benedictine 0, Dominican 3 (12-25, 14-25, 21-25)

• Both teams played an even first set until Dominican caught fire and went on a 3-0 run
• The Eagles tried to catch up but the Stars tallied 11 kills for a .375 hitting percentage in their 25-12 win
• In the second set, a Vanessa Possidoni ace put BenU up 5-2
• That would be the last time the Eagles would lead as Dominican tied it at six and would tally 11 kills for a .348 hitting percentage in the set
• The Eagles could not generate any offense as they only tallied seven kills and hit a -.103 in the loss
• With the score tied at 11, Dominican tallied the next two points and cruised to a 25-21 win
• The Stars out-hit the Eagles 35-24 (kills) and hit .287 compared to Benedictine's -.022
• Dominican connected for 12 blocks while Benedictine could only muster two

Women's volleyball, now 1-11 overall and 0-2 in NACC action, travels to Pella, IA this weekend to compete in the IIAC/NACC Crossover Challenge. The Eagles face Central and Buena Vista on Friday while taking on Loras and Dubuque on Saturday.
