LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's soccer team stopped a two-game slide by blitzing past visiting Edgewood College 5-3 on Saturday afternoon.

• The contest featured near constant back and forth action
• Benedictine had a pair of corner kicks early in the contest but did not break through until the ninth minute
• Nick Kapetanos banged home his sixth goal of the season by collecting a rebound from
Erik Stammer
• Benedictine kept the pressure on early hitting a crossbar and putting two more attempts on target
• Edgewood's first opportunity came in the 19th minute but
Antonio Marti Polo made the save
• The lead extended to 2-0 in the 34th minute when Stammer drained a quick hitter up the middle from
Alex Unzueta
• Edgewood converted on a penalty kick in the 60th minute to trim the deficit to a single goal
• Two quick tallied pushed the margin to 4-1
• Lukasz Sulka struck from dead on following an initial through ball from
Santiago Beltran and a cross from Stammer
• Stammer notched his second of the day in the 68th minute on a one-on-one following a through from Kapetanos
• Edgewood scored in the 7th minute and utilized another PK in the 83rd minute to draw within 4-3
• Sulka scored the final marker just before the final countdown following a takeaway and pass from Beltran
• The five goals marked a season high
• Benedictine finished with a 17-15 advantage in shots after Edgewood notched 11 in the second half
• Stammer was involved in four tallies with two goals and two assists while pacing the team with eight shots, four on goal
• Sulka scored twice with Kapetanos adding a goal and an assist
• Marti Polo finished with three saves in the win
