AURORA, IL - The Benedictine University men's basketball team came up just short at Aurora University in NACC play on Thursday night.


Aurora 81, Benedictine 79


• Benedictine built a six-point lead to start the game, scoring six consecutive points including four from Brayden Olson to nab a 14-8 lead five minutes into the contest
• Benedictine led for much of the first half, again taking a six-point edge at 36-30 on a layup from Jens Soderholm with 5:57 left in the half
• Aurora responded with a 12-0 run to turn the tables and take the lead into halftime at 46-42
• Eric Grygo knocked down a three-pointer early in the second half to draw Benedictine within 49-47 before Aurora netted eight straight to take a double-digit lead at 57-47
• Benedictine continued to chip away but Aurora consistently answered before Soderholm opened an 11-0 run with a jumper
• Soderholm tied the game with a three-pointer at the six minute mark before Olson scored four in a row to hand Benedictine a 73-69 edge

• Benedictine shot at a 61.3 percent clip in the first half and finished the game at 51.6 percent
• Benedictine dominated on the glass, holding a 42-27 edge
• Olson finished with 21 points and seven assists to lead Benedictine
• Grygo notched 20 points and 11 rebounds, making 8-of-9 attempts
• Soderholm also posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards
• Kejuan Glosson finished with 10 points
