Men's Hoops Blitzes Rockford

LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's basketball team shot over 50 percent for a seventh straight game to blitz past visiting Rockford on Wednesday night.

• Benedictine scored the first four points of the game and opened a seven-point edge at 13-6 on a layup from Eric Grygo with 14:06 remaining in the half
• The lead reached nine at 26-17 when Grygo, who had a strong day from the field, capped a three-point play with 6:38 to go in the first
• Rockford reversed the tables with a strong close to the half, taking the lead for the first time at 36-35 in the final minute
• Kenny Bogus responded with a layup as Benedictine took a 37-36 lead into the half
• The visitors built a 49-44 lead five minutes into the second half before Jens Soderholm scored 10 consecutive points to make the score 54-49 at the 13:09 mark
• Bogus heated up, knocking down three consecutive three-pointers as the advantage swelled to double digits
• Brayden Olson made a jumper to extend the lead to 74-62 with just over six minutes left and Benedictine would lead by as many as 15 in finishing off the decision, a fifth consecutive win
• The contest featured four ties and six lead changes

• Benedictine shot over 50 percent in each half despite struggling from beyond the arc, finishing the game at 51.5 percent, a seventh straight game at better than 50 percent
• Benedictine is 6-1 in those contests
• Despite grabbing just five offensive rebounds, Benedictine held a 44-41 edge
• Bogus finished with a career high 25 points and added nine rebounds along with three blocks
• Soderholm netted 23 off the bench
• Grygo and Olson both posted double-doubles
• Olson scored 17 points and added 11 assists to go with seven rebounds
• Grygo netted 15 with 12 rebounds and did not miss a shot in the first half on seven attempts
