LOVES PARK, IL - The Benedictine University men's soccer team set up a huge weekend matchup by scoring a road victory at Rockford on Wednesday night.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine created plenty of chances but could not strike until late in the first half
• Benedictine tallied three corner kicks in the middle of the half that generated three shots on goal, all of which were stopped
• The first goal came in the 32nd minute
• Lukasz Sulka had a first attempt blocked, but picked up the rebound and put it in the net
• With the opening 45 coming to a close, Sulka made the score 2-0 with a boot from 15 yards out following deep passes from
Marco Corona-Duran and
Erik Stammer
• Rockford cut into the deficit with a goal on a penalty kick in the 73rd minute
• Benedictine responded with two goals quickly to put the game away
• Stammer was denied on a first attempt, but a cross though the middle from
Aldreiron Smith set up a second attempt in the 77th minute to make the score 3-1
• Santiago Beltran notched his first of the year in the 80th minute, heading home a free kick from
Rogelio Delatorre to account for the final
• Benedictine held a 16-7 advantage in shots with Sulka notching eight including six on goal
• Shawn Chervets recorded four saves in goal
