Eagles Win Two

The Benedictine University men's volleyball team had a busy Saturday afternoon, taking in two home matches against Marian University and Maranatha Baptist University in the Rice Center. The Eagles swept both matches and are now 19-4 on the year.

• Kyle VanStedum served up four straight for Benedictine to start the first set and the Eagles never lost the lead
• Adriel Rivas helped BenU go on an 8-0 run to take a 13-3 advantage
• Marian tried to rally, tallying four straight but it was too late as the Eagles went on to win 25-17
• Benedictine tallied 17 kills in the set, hitting .345
• In set two, Benedictine trailed early on
• An Elijah Medlock ace tied the set and a VanStedum kill gave BenU a lead that they used to go on to win 25-16
• In set three, both teams traded points early on until a Rivas kill put BenU up 13-9
• Joe Lock served nine straight for BenU as they went on to win 25-12
• The Eagles tallied just nine kills in the set but held Marian to a -.087 attack percentage

• Lock tallied back-to-back aces to give BenU a 20-11 lead and the Eagles never looked back, winning 25-15
• Benedictine tallied 14 kills in set one
• The Eagles trailed early on in set two but another Lock ace gave them the lead and they never looked back, winning 25-15
• BenU had 14 kills and hit .355 with three blocks while Nick Malak recorded seven kills
• In set three, the Eagles led the entire time winning 25-16 and recording 16 kills
• This is Benedictine's 11th straight victory
