NORMAL, IL - The Benedictine University baseball team dropped a pair of contests to surging 15th-ranked Webster University on Tuesday night.

• Benedictine struggled at the plate in both contests
• Back-to-back singles started the game and
Jonathan Hodo put Benedictine ahead with a groundout
• The team managed just two hits the rest of the contest
• Webster came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning and did not trail the remainder of the game
• Webster was held to only two hits in the second game while Benedictine managed four
• After falling behind 1-0 in the first, Benedictine evened the contest in the fourth
• Michael Chaffin led off with a single and Hodo followed with a walk
• A balk moved the runners before
Nicholas Quick tied the contest with a sacrifice fly
• Webster was able to win the game by scoring three times in the sixth on only one hit
• Both games were seven innings in length
• The two teams were supposed to play in the season opening series back in March but were rained out on the final day
• The games were played at Illinois State University, roughly halfway between the two schools
• Webster is 31-7 and has won 17 games in a row
• Justin Sosa suffered the loss in the opener, allowing four runs in five innings
• Michael Santarelli suffered the loss in the second contest, allowing just one earned run in five innings
• Benedictine drew just one walk in the doubleheader
• Seven different individuals logged hits over the course of the two games with only Chaffin posting hits in both ends

Benedictine (21-14, 10-6 NACC) has another stiff non-conference test at Division I UIC on Wednesday night in Chicago
