Singletary Buzzer Beater Lifts Men's Hoops to Win

LISLE, IL - Carl Singletary Jr. hit a three at the buzzer to answer a late basket from Wisconsin Lutheran and hand Benedictine a win at home.

THE DETAILS
•
The game-winner came after a sequence of turnovers led to a Wisconsin Lutheran bucket with 4.8 seconds remaining and after Benedictine failed to hold a 15-point lead in the first half and an eight-point lead with 3:49 to go
• Benedictine jumped out to a double-digit lead early in the first half at 15-4 with 11:39 remaining in the half, holding Wisconsin Lutheran scoreless for a stretch of over six minutes
• A three-point play from Eric Grygo put Benedictine up 23-6 with 6:17 left in the half but the visitors came back within seven and trailed 32-23 at the half
• Wisconsin Lutheran scored the first nine points of the second to tie the game, keeping Benedictine scoreless until a Keegan Graebner basket at the 14:58 mark
• Benedictine led by double figures again on a steal and basket from Hayden Helfrich with 11:15 to go at 48-37 and continued to lead by 11 points with 5:32 left before the frantic finish
• A three-pointer put Wisconsin Lutheran ahead 65-64 with 1:59 remaining before an answer from Kyle Graebner, who posted a three-point play
• Grygo stretched the lead to 69-65 with 38 seconds left
• With the game tied, Helfrich split a pair of free throws before Singletary stole the ball away and then lost the ball, leading to the go-ahead basket
