LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University women's soccer team brought an end to a busy day on campus by suffering a double overtime defeat to visiting Edgewood.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine continued to create chances but could not find a way to score against the Edgewood defense
• Three different players,
Holly Ward,
Katie Farb and
Eve Meintz all logged shots on goal in the first 10 minutes
• Neither team was able to score in the opening 45 minutes of play
• Starting the second half with three shots, two of which were on goal, Benedictine was able to strike first in the 58th minute
• Stephanie Nichols lobed a shot into the top left of the goal on a cross from Ward
• Edgewood tied the game less than 10 minutes later
• With both teams coming up empty in the first 10 minutes, the contest went to a second overtime
• Nichols and
Sammie Sarles both had shots on goal but could not score
• Edgewood broke away on a failed clear and drove the winner into the bottom right of the net to secure a conference victory for the first time this season
• Benedictine consistently peppered the goal, tallying 26 shots, including 17 on goal but managed just one goal despite limiting Edgewood to only nine attempts
• Cassidy Henson recorded two saves in goal in the first game this season for Benedictine that was not a shutout
• Meintz finished with seven shots while Farb and Ward each logged five
