LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University women's soccer team played for the second time in 24 hours and produced one of the best efforts of the year in a win over Wisconsin Lutheran at home on Sunday night.

THE DETAILS
• In a key conference matchup, Benedictine came out determined to put the devastating double overtime loss from less than 24 hours earlier in the rearview mirror
• Abbie Graham put a shot on goal immediately following the opening kickoff as Benedictine set the tone from the outset
• Benedictine continued to control possession and keep the attack
• Eve Meintz placed a shot on target in the eighth minute and
Abbie Graham had a pair of attempts just miss including a free kick from the top of the box
• Another foul opened the door for the first goal of the game in the 18th minute when
Sammie Sarles blasted a free kick from just outside the midfield stripe that bounced to the feet of
Holly Ward, who chipped a shot over the goalie and into the lower left corner for her first goal of the year
• Benedictine was able to keep the attack moving and add to the lead in the 34th minute when a free kick from 40 yards out off the foot of Sarles deflected off the keeper's hands and into the left corner of the net
• The onslaught continued in the 39th minute with
Jennifer Garcia starting a three-on-three with a long run, feeding
Shelby Mepham who sent a feed back to Garcia at the top of the box and a shot that rolled into the bottom right corner
• Benedictine held a 13-1 edge in shots during the opening 45 minutes of play with seven on
goal
• The first half lead was more than enough to break a three match winless streak
• Graham stretched the lead to 4-0 in the 64th minute shortly after a failed clear following a free kick when the goalie was unable to secure a cross from
Taylor Healy
• Cassidy Henson made a pair of saves to record another shutout, adding to her league best total with her sixth of the year
• Benedictine held a 19-2 advantage in shots, putting 12 on goal as nearly the entire roster saw the field
