Eagles Win Two; Medlock Tallies Career High

It was an exciting Friday night for Benedictine University men's volleyball as they faced #9 North Central College followed by a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference contest against Lakeland. Benedictine won both matches to move to 9-1 on the year and 2-0 in NACC play.
 
NORTH CENTRAL FINAL
Benedictine 3, North Central 2 (25-18, 19-25, 25-9, 23-25, 15-13)
 
THE DETAILS
• Elijah Medlock had a career high 25 kills in the match, helping the Eagles hit .331 with 60 kills in the win
• The Eagles led the entire first set, tallying 15 kills and hitting .419 for the 25-18 win
• It was all North Central in set two as they held BenU to just seven kills while they collected 14 kills and 3.5 blocks
• Set three was a dominating performance by the Eagles, holding NCC to just nine points while collecting 13 kills and five blocks for the 25-9 win
• The Cardinals were far from finished as they tallied six straight early on, including three aces to take the lead
• Despite rallying back with six straight of their own, BenU could not hold the NCC momentum, falling 25-23
•In set five, both teams traded points early on until Kyle VanStedum put Benedictine on top 12-8
• North Central would come within one but Benedictine hit .524 in the set with 12 kills for the victory

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine led the entire first set but Lakeland capitalized late in the game on several BenU errors
• Both teams combined for seven service errors but a Malak and Thomas Samaras kill secured the Eagles 30-28 win
• The Eagles recorded 13 kills and tallied four blocks in the 25-17 second set win
• In set three, BenU led 13-6 but allowed LU to go on a 4-0 run to come within three
• A Marcus Gonzalez and Mike LeGros kill gave BenU set point en route to the 25-18 win
