LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's basketball team put together a late rally but fell short in a home defeat to Rockford University on Saturday afternoon.

THE DETAILS
• Rockford led for a bulk of the game as both teams came out of the gates shooting, hitting consistent shots
• Carl Singletary, Jr. made an early three-pointer to give Benedictine a momentary lead
• Benedictine tied the game at 5-5, 7-7 and 12-12
• Down by eight points, Singletary opened an 8-0 run to tie the game late in the first half at 22-22
• Bryan Jakobsze put Benedictine ahead briefly at 25-24, but Rockford led by three at the break 44-41 after shooting 58 percent
• Michael Johnson converted on a three-point play early in the second half to put Benedictine in front, but Rockford countered with a 14-0 run to go up by double digits
• Benedictine scrapped and clawed to get within five points twice at 75-70 on a
Kyle Graebner three-pointer and again at 77-72Â moments later on a layup from Jakobsze with 5:48 left
• Rockford responded with eight consecutive free throws and again led by 15 with just over a minute left
STAT LEADERS
• Benedictine finished the game shooting 43.3 percent while Rockford hit at a 56.4 percent clip and held a 36-33 lead on the glass
• Graebner finished with a career best 21 points, knocking down five triples
• Three others reached double figures led by 17 from Johnson, 14 from Jakobsze and 13 from Singletary
• Jakobsze grabbed nine rebounds, six of which came on the offensive end
