Men's Volleyball Edges Aurora

Despite taking a 2-0 lead over Aurora University, the #3 Benedictine University men's volleyball team allowed the Spartans to win the next two sets. Benedictine edged Aurora in set five, 21-19, moving to 6-0 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action.

THE DETAILS
• Aurora entered the match on a high after beating Dominican University over the weekend and started receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll
• In set one, both teams traded points until a Nick Malak kill gave BenU the lead and never looked back for the 25-22 win
• The second set saw the Eagles tally nine kills with three aces, holding AU to just six kills and a -.107 hitting percentage for the 25-14 win
• Tied at 17, Aurora tallied a kill to take the third set lead and go on to win 25-22
• Both teams were back and forth the entire fourth set
• The Spartans defense came alive, tallying five blocks and holding BenU to a .086 hitting percentage for the 28-26 win
• The fifth set alone saw 13 ties and four lead changes
• Tied at 19, a John Davis kill put Benedictine up and the Eagles sealed the win with a Kyle VanStedum ace
• As a team, Benedictine tallied 59 kills (.239), 11 blocks and 56 digs
• Both teams combined for 42 service errors
