Baseball Upends Framingham State

KISSIMMEE, FL - The Benedictine University baseball team improved to 2-2 on the spring break trip to Florida by surging past Framingham State on Sunday.

THE DETAILS
•
Benedictine used a big inning early to take command of the game, scoring six times in the top of the second
• Damen Castillo singled and scored the game's first run on an RBI double from Tyler Woynerowski
• Brenden Norberg drew a walk and stole second, while a bad throw enabled Woynerowski to cross the plate
• Chase Patterson put down a bunt that was thrown away, leading to another run and a 3-0 lead
• Jack Feeley singled home Cameron Falk, who had walked earlier in the frame
• Michael Chaffin followed with an RBI single as the inning continued
• The final run of the frame scored on a groundout from Jared Trivette
• Justin Sosa kept putting up zeroes on the board as Benedictine built the lead to 7-0 in the fifth
• Jack Surin logged a one-out single and scored on a Woynerowski single with two outs
• Framingham scored three in the bottom of the inning and tacked on runs in the eighth and ninth but left the tying run on base as Marty Maves shut the door with a strikeout

Sosa struck out nine in 4.2 innings, allowing three runs
• Cameron Paladines collected the win in relief, tossing 1.1 innings
• Ryan Litavecz and Ty Liaromatis bridged the gap to Maves, who struck out two to save his first of the year
• The pitching staff totaled 13 strikeouts after fanning 12 on Saturday
• Woynerowski was the only player to tally more than one hit
