LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University baseball team struck out 33 Rockford batters in sweeping a doubleheader and running their win streak to a season high four.

BENEDICTINE 2, ROCKFORD 1 (10 Inn.)
• Ryan Miller struck out the side in the first inning
• Rockford created chances and broke through with an unearned run in the third, around three more strikeouts from Miller
• Benedictine struggled to create offense against the Rockford starter, who allowed just five hits in eight innings
• Logan Shepard came off the bench to pinch hit in the eighth, drilling a leadoff homer to straightaway center to tie the score
• Benedictine loaded the bases in the bottom of the 10th when
Michael Santarelli reached on an error and
Kyle Mitter followed with a bunt single before
Michael Chaffin walked
• Rockford was in position to escape after the winning run was cut down at the plate, but
Jimmy McLaughlin ended the game with a double to deep left
GAME ONE STAT LEADERS
• Both teams finished with seven hits with Mitter tallying three
• Ty Liaromatis picked up his first collegiate win, throwing the final three innings while striking out four
• Ryan Litavecz tossed two scoreless frames, striking out three
• The pitching staff struck out 16 in the opener and the bullpen did not allow a hit in five scoreless innings
• Miller allowed just an unearned run in five innings while striking out nine
BENEDICTINE 11, ROCKFORD 2
• Benedictine left the bases loaded in the bottom of the first before breaking through with four in the second
• Brenden Norberg singled home the first run and executed a double steal with Mitter
• Jack Feeley singled home a pair with one away
• Shepard added an RBI single in the frame
• The four runs appeared to be more than enough for
Alexander Schram, who retired the first 10 batters of the game and did not allow a hit until the sixth
• Tyler Woynerowski greeted a reliever with a solo homer to begin the third, stretching the lead to 5-0
• Rockford forced Schram to work in the sixth, recording a pair of runs
• 12 came to the plate in the eighth as Benedictine put the game away with six runs
• Norberg and Feeley recorded bases loaded walks before McLaughlin tripled home three and
Nicholas Quick logged an RBI groundout

• Schram improved to 3-2 on the year, striking out 10 in six innings
• Drake Berman threw the seventh,
Marty Maves the eighth and
Simon Herold the ninth with all three striking out at least two
• Benedictine struck out 17 in the second game
