Men's Lacrosse Matches Win Record in Season Finale

LISLE, IL - Despite battling late season cold along with a rain and snow mix, the Benedictine University men's lacrosse team was able to match the single season record for wins by taking down visiting Monmouth in the final game of the year.

THE DETAILS
•
Monmouth scored the first goal of the game with snow falling at the 12:54 mark of the first quarter
• Mike Cislak opened a string of three straight, tying the game less than two minutes later and putting Benedictine ahead for good with 10:33 left in the first
• Benedictine led by just a single goal with a little over three minutes remaining in the first before Thomas Tillett opened a three-goal spurt
• Monmouth scored the final two goals of the half to draw within 8-6
• Matt Moreland opened the scoring in the third quarter with 11:47 to play, the first of four in a row from four different individuals as Benedictine built a 12-6 lead
• Monmouth scored instantly to battle within five, but the teams traded goals the rest of the way to account for the final
• The win matched last season's total and marked the fourth time that the team has claimed 11 wins in a year in a program that started play in 2013

Monmouth totaled 52 shots including 20 in the fourth, putting 32 on target
• Benedictine won 17 faceoffs and picked up 45 groundballs
• Nine different players found the back of the net in the win
• Cislak scored four times to cap his collegiate career while Joe Spahn added four goals and an assist
• Tillett dished out five assists
• Mateo Salceda won 13 faceoffs and picked up 10 groundballs while Daniel Lawler added seven groundballs
• Evan Kilbane made 12 saves in goal with Wyatt Gross adding nine

Benedictine finished the season with an 11-4 record and a 9-2 mark in conference play while logging a record of 8-2 at home
