MIDDLETON, WI - The Benedictine University baseball team pulled away from Edgewood to sweep a conference doubleheader on the road.

GAME ONE
• Following a quick first two innings as both starts kept the offense at bay, Benedictine nabbed a 2-0 lead in the third
• Jimmy McLaughlin doubled to right-center, plating
Nicholas Quick and
Jack Feeley with the first two runs
• Benedictine continued to create opportunities but couldn't further the lead until the seventh
• Kyle Mitter singled, moved to second on a wild pitch and stole third before a double from Feeley brought him home
• Feeley moved to third on a balk and crossed when
Brenden Norberg lifted a sacrifice fly
• Edgewood scored in the seventh, but Benedictine put the game away with two runs in the eighth on a wild pitch and an RBI single from Mitter
STAT LEADERS
• Ryan Litavecz made the start, working seven innings and allowing just one run on four hits while striking out five
• The start marked the first of the season for Litavecz, who had worked 16 times in relief
• Ty Liaromatis and
Cameron Paladines finished out the game
• McLaughlin finished with three hits and two RBIs
• Mitter added a pair of hits as Benedictine finished with nine in the opener
GAME TWO
• Benedictine scored in each of the first three innings in the second affair
• Feeley and
Logan Shepard singled to open the game before McLaughlin opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly
• Benedictine added two more runs in the first when Quick reached on an error
• Another unearned run came across in the second while a double steal with
Jared Trivette and
Jack Surin led to a third inning tally and a 5-0 lead
• Edgewood scored in the fourth before Benedictine started to pull away with three in the sixth
• Shepard lifted a sacrifice fly and
Damen Castillo singled in a run while an error enabled Benedictine to take advantage again with another unearned run
• Benedictine scored a run in the seventh and tacked on four more in the eighth to claim a third straight
STAT LEADERS
• Simon Herold walked two and struck out seven in working four innings during his first collegiate start
• Drake Berman earned the win by logging three innings of relief, striking out three
• Christian Hubbard worked the eighth to complete the win
• Feeley finished with three hits as Benedictine totaled 13
• Tyler Woynerowski also posted three hits with Surin adding two
NOTES
• Feeley posted hits in each game and has now reached base in 24 straight while holding down a 23-game hitting streak
• Mitter has now reached base in 21 straight
• The game was originally slated to be played on Saturday but was moved to Monday due to weather with the start time changing to allow more time for the field to ready
• Benedictine, ranked third in the region, has won at least three in a row four times this season
• The 14 conference wins mark the most under
Adam Smith in his fourth season at the helm
