LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University women's lacrosse team dropped a nip-and-tuck Sunday afternoon home affair with Monmouth College.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine got off to a strong start after Monmouth scored the opening tally
• Madison Horan notched three consecutive goals to give Benedictine a 3-1 lead with 20:20 to play in the first half
• The visitors unleashed a run of their own, responding with four straight goals to lead 5-3 midway through the half
• Samantha Tikalsky countered with the first of three straight for Benedictine, who took a 6-5 lead with just over four minutes to go in the first before Monmouth tallied the final three goals and led 8-6 at the break
• Victoria House tallied the first goal of the second half for Benedictine, which came at the 24:39 mark
• Lexie Orr tied the contest with 20:58 remaining and
Kaylee Garcia put Benedictine ahead at 10-9 with 18:33 left
• Monmouth netted the next four to take a 13-10 lead
• Orr scored two more goals to bring Benedictine within the final margin entering the final minute
• Benedictine had a pair of scrambles in the closing moments but could not even the score
STAT LEADERS
• Monmouth held a 40-26 advantage in shots with 31 on goal
• Amaris Hernandez recorded 18 saves, helping give Benedictine a chance late
• Hernandez also led Benedictine with five groundballs
• Both teams picked up 27 groundballs
• Tikalsky, Orr and Horan each scored three goals as six players connected for Benedictine
• Tikalsky caused five turnovers while Horan collected six draw controls
