• Benedictine led for a lot of the opening set, using a run of three straight opened with a
Jacob Grygo kill to nab a 9-7 lead
• MSOE was tailing 14-10 before stringing together five in a row to open a 15-14 advantage
• Elijah Medlock and
Chase Olson both tied the contest, but MSOE put together four straight to lead 21-17
• NACC Player of the Week
Nick Malak and Olson put down consecutive balls to tie the set, but the hosts finished with three in a row to claim the opener
• MSOE used four different three-point stretches to win the second, the first of which erased a 10-9 deficit and gave MSOE the lead for good
• Benedictine tallied the first two points of the third but MSOE strung together four in a row in the middle of the set to open a 16-11 margin and not look back
• Benedictine hit just .022 for the contest
• The contest marked the season opener for MSOE, who also defeated Benedictine in Wisconsin last year
• Benedictine has won at MSOE just twice in program history
• MSOE was receiving votes in the AVCA Preseason poll

Benedictine (2-2, 0-1 NACC) kicks off the home portion of the season on Sunday with a doubleheader against Fontbonne and Augustana. Fontbonne played for the national title last year
