AUBURNDALE, FL - The Benedictine University baseball team ended the season with a fourth consecutive win, striking out 18 batters to best Wentworth Institute of Technology in Florida.

THE DETAILS
• Kyle Mitter led off the game with a triple to set the tone as Benedictine scored twice in the first
• Jonathan Hodo lifted a sacrifice fly to score Mitter and reach on an error
• Hodo stole second and reached third on a wild pitch with two outs before scoring on a double from
Jack Surin
• Benedictine scored single runs in the fourth and fifth to distance the lead to 4-0
• Surin scored after reaching on an error in the fourth and
Logan Shepard singled in the fifth before pinch-runner
Brenden Norberg scored on a sacrifice fly from Mitter
• Wentworth scored twice in the bottom of the sixth before Benedictine notched three runs in the seventh
• Mitter plated Norberg and
Jeremy Davis with a two-run single
• Jack Feeley lifted a sacrifice fly to account for the final run of the inning
• Two more runs scored in the ninth inning on a triple from Feeley and a single from Surin
• 26 players were able to see action in what ended up being the final game of the spring trip to Florida and the season
STAT LEADERS
• Stephen Sewruk started and struck out seven in three innings, allowing just three hits to earn his first win of the year in his second start
• Alexander Schram tossed two scoreless innings, fanning three
• Justin Sosa struck out three in a hitless inning
• Simon Herold,
Ryan Litavecz and
Ty Liaromatis all worked an inning to finish the game
• Benedictine finished with 15 hits in the win, totaling five extra-base hits with four stolen bases
• Surin finished 4-for-5 with two RBIs while Mitter notched three hits, three runs and three RBIs from the leadoff slot
THE SEASON
Benedictine finished the abbreviated year 4-3. Most schools and conferences have canceled the remainder of the season, ending Benedictine's spring break trip a week early. The team was allowed to continue to compete while on break. The NACC has canceled the remainder of the year.
