LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's soccer team rallied early in the second half but dropped a spirited contest to MSOE in a battle of two conference front runners.

THE DETAILS
• MSOE grabbed the lead very quickly in the contest
• Chris Rubio recorded an early save before the first goal worked its way through in the ninth minute
• Hayden Van Son,
Mike Bassier and
Fernando Alvarez all had attempts to tie
• MSOE was able to extend the lead by scoring after a corner kick in the 26th minute
• A penalty kick enabled the visitors to grab a 3-0 lead in the 38th minute
• Benedictine drew a foul in the box just over a minute later which resulted in Van Son putting Benedictine on the board
• Omar Barragan set up
Michal Szaflarski less than two minutes into the second to draw Benedictine within a goal
• MSOE controlled after the goal and put in another tally to make the score 4-2 in the 60th minute
• Before the contest, Benedictine honored 10 seniors
STAT LEADERS
• MSOE held a 9-8 advantage in shots, putting seven on goal
• Six different individuals posted shots for Benedictine led by three from Van Son
• Chris Rubio made three saves in net
