Men's Soccer Ends Regular Season on Winning Note

AURORA, IL - The Benedictine University men's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a road win over Aurora.

THE DETAILS
•
Benedictine set the tone very early with Omar Barragan putting a shot on goal in the second minute
• Hayden Van Son fired a shot in the seventh minute that helped set up a corner kick opportunity
• Barragan set up Van Son for the first goal of the contest at the 7:31 mark
• David Szaflarski, Mike Bassier and Tomasz Kulak immediately created chances following the goal as Benedictine continued to threaten
• Just over three minutes into the second half Szaflarski found Bassier for the second goal
• Aurora pulled within a single goal in the 70th minute following a corner kick but could get no closer as Benedictine wrapped up the three seed in the conference tournament

Both teams logged 14 shots with Aurora notching 10 in the second half during the comeback effort
• Both teams made five saves in goal as Chris Rubio played the entire contest for Benedictine
• David Szaflarski paced Benedictine with four shots
• Eight different players recorded shots

UP NEXT
Benedictine (12-3-2, 9-2-1 NACC) will host the opening round of the conference tournament on Saturday night as the three seed in a 7:00 pm affair. welcoming Concordia Chicago. The teams played to a 2-2 draw at Concordia Chicago in September.
