SAUGET, IL - The Benedictine University baseball team opened the season with a loss to Wartburg on Saturday afternoon.

THE DETAILS
• Alex Schram received the ball in the opener for Benedictine
• Wartburg struck first, scoring twice with a two-out double in the bottom of the second
• Wartburg, playing for the fourth time this season, added to the lead with another two-out run in the third
• Benedictine pulled within a single run in the third
• Jack Surin led off with a double and scored on a two-out double from newcomer

• Brenden Norberg was hit by a pitch and
Cameron Falk stroked an RBI single to right-center
• Ryan Doubek drew a walk to load the bases but Wartburg escaped the frame with the lead
• Wartburg added an unearned run in the sixth and tacked on three more in the seventh
STAT LEADERS
• Schram worked six innings and allowed three earned runs on five hits, walking three and striking out three
• Ryan Renken worked 2.1 innings and
Drake Berman threw the final 1.2 innings
• Six different individuals tabulated hits in the season opening defeat
• Norberg reached base three times with Surin reaching twice
• Benedictine left eight on base in the loss
