LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University baseball team swept visiting Rockford to run their win streak to nine games and grab sole possession of first place in the South Division.

GAME ONE
• Benedictine grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning when
Damen Castillo roped a double to right, scoring
Jack Surin from first
• Rockford scored twice in the second to nab a brief 2-1 lead
• Surin and
Cameron Falk logged RBI doubles in the third to put Benedictine ahead 3-2
• Four more runs scored in the fourth to stretch the lead to 7-2
• A double steal executed by
Kyle Mitter and
Ryan Doubek put runners at second and third
• Jack Feeley lofted a sacrifice fly and Surin added an RBI single
• Castillo added another RBI double before eventually coming around to score on a wild pitch
• Rockford pulled within 7-4 with two runs in the fifth, but Benedictine accounted for the final with an RBI double from Surin in the eighth
GAME ONE LEADERS
• Ryan Renken started and worked five innings to earn the win, walking one and striking out four
• Simon Herold struck out nine in four near perfect innings of relief to pick up his second save
• Surin finished with four hits, two double and three RBIs
• Benedictine stole five bases in the contest
GAME TWO
• Benedictine sent 10 to the plate in the second inning, scoring five runs to nab control early
• Nic Presutti led off with a double and scored on a single from Falk
• Doubek kept the rally moving with an RBI single
• Surin doubled home two and
Kevin Bushnell capped the inning with an RBI single
• A sacrifice fly from Doubek pushed the edge to 6-0 in the fourth
• Doubek stole second and third on consecutive pitches before scoring on a wild pitch in the sixth to make the score 7-1
• Two runs in the seventh pushed the lead to 9-1 on RBIs from Doubek and Feeley
• Castillo opened the inning with an opposite field solo homer
GAME TWO LEADERS
• Benedictine swiped five bases in the second contest and 10 in the double
• Alexander Schram started and struck out eight in five innings, allowing just an unearned run
• Schram retired the first 11 hitters of the game
• Dan Dombrowski tossed three scoreless with three strikeouts while
Brock Bevil finished the game with a perfect ninth
• Doubek stole three bases, scored two runs and drove home three
• Brenden Norberg walked three times
• Surin, Castillo and Falk all totaled two hits

Benedictine (15-6, 6-0 NACC) will attempt to complete a weekend sweep of Rockford on the road Sunday. Aurora and Illinois Tech split on Saturday, putting Benedictine, winners of nine straight, all alone atop the South Division.
