VERONA, WI - The Benedictine University baseball team won a pair of close contests at Edgewood on Wednesday afternoon.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine trailed only briefly in the twinbill
• Edgewood scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first in the opener
• Benedictine scored four runs in the third to take the lead
• The frame opened with
Jack Surin reaching on a wild pitch
• With the bases loaded after a hit batter and an error,
Brenden Norberg coaxed a walk to tie the score
• Alex Cameron and
Ryan Doubek followed with consecutive RBI singles to put Benedictine in front
• Kyle Mitter also notched an RBI fielder's choice
• The lead reached 5-1 in the with with an unearned run
• Edgewood came back to tie the score with two runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh with all the runs coming on two-run homers
• Jack Feeley homered in the eighth to put Benedictine ahead for good
• The second game saw Benedictine jump to a 5-0 lead
• Surin hit a two-run homer in the first and three unearned runs scored in the fourth
• Runs in the fourth and fifth enabled Edgewood to pull within 5-2 before Doubek scored on a balk in the top of the sixth
• Edgewood hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning to pull within 6-4 but
Kevin Bushnell homered in the seventh
• After the hosts scored in the bottom of the eighth, Benedictine logged an insurance run with an unearned tally in the ninth
STAT LEADERS
• Benedictine used eight pitchers combined in the doubleheader
• Drake Berman worked four innings in the opener, allowing an unearned run
• Ty Liaromatis improved to 3-0 on the year by working two innings in the opener
• Ryan Litavecz collected the save
• Frank Greco started the second contest and tossed four innings
• Dan Dombrowski earned the win, striking out the side in the seventh during his Benedictine debut
• Litavecz came on for the final 1.1 innings to save both ends of the double
• Feeley finished with three hits in the opener while
Cameron Falk and Cameron posted two apiece
• Norberg was on base four times with a hit and three walks
• Feeley, Bushnell, Norberg and
Damen Castillo notched two hits each in the second game with Bushnell also drawing three walks
• Benedictine finished with 11 hits in the opener and 13 in the second contest
