FULL RELEASE
MILWAUKEE, WI - The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference released the postseason awards from the unique 2021 men's soccer season which saw no crossover play and action in the spring instead of the fall due to the pandemic. Five players from Benedictine were honored including
Yusuf Sahin, who was selected as South Division Defensive Player of the Year.
Sahin anchored a back line that allowed just 11 goals in eight games. The newcomer to Benedictine also recorded an assist on the season.
Other players honored for Benedictine included All-South selections
Michal Szaflarski and
Lukasz Sulka. Sulka led the team with four goals and four assists after being invloved in over half of the team's goals for the season. Szaflarski was honored as a midfielder and finished with two goals and two assists.
Omar Barragan and
Hayden Van Son received honorable mention recognition. Barragan started all eight games and led the team in shots whils scoring two goals and adding a pair of assists. Van Son finished second on the team in goals and shots, finishing with three goals and two assists.
Benedictine completed the unique season with a 4-3-1 record.
