FULL RELEASE
MILWAUKEE, WI - The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference released the awards for the unique spring season and Benedictine won a pair of awards along with four players receiving all-conference honors.
Eve Meintz was named as the co-South Division Defensive Player of the Year and first-year head coach
Katie Berkopec was selected as the co-South Division Coach of the Year.
Meintz consistently held down the back line of defense, starting all eight games. The Huntley, Ill. native started all eight matches on the year and is the first major award winner from Benedictine in the NACC. Berkopec helped guide Benedictine through the unique season, leading the team to the South Division championship game in her first season as coach.
Victoria Alvarado was also honored from the defense to the All-South team. Alvarado started all eight contests.
Stephanie Nichols received recognition from the midfield. Nichols tallied a goal and led the team with two assists. Forward
Holly Ward was also recognized. Ward led the team with three goals and 18 shots including 10 on goal. Goalie
Mary Frederick received honorable mention status. Frederick recorded 39 saves and played every minute in goal in her first season in net.
Benedictine finished the year 2-6-1 and reached the South Division final.
