Trevor Montiel hit a contested jump shot in the corner at the buzzer to lift the Benedictine University men's basketball team to an 80-78 win on the road at Illinois Tech. The win halted a five-game win streak for Illinois Tech. The game marked the third of five straight road contests. Montiel scored 22 points in the first half and finished with 26 to go along with 12 rebounds in a double-double.
Andrew Stokes contributed 18 and
Marvin Agwomoh added 10. Benedictine held a 37-32 edge on the glass. The game featured five ties and 11 lead changes. Benedictine led by as many as 15 points in the first half.
