The Benedictine University football team was blanked by Concordia Wisconsin on the road Saturday, suffering a 28-0 setback.
Punts twice pinned Benedictine at their own one-yardline. The team marched all the way to the Concordia Wisconsin 33 before stalling late in the first quarter. Following a missed field goal Benedictine again drove into Concordia Wisconsin territory but was halted on fourth and one. The hosts led 7-0. Benedictine was on the Concordia Wisconsin side twice more in the first half but came up empty.
Taking advantage of a short field, the hosts made it 14-0 midway through the third and after another punt stretched the advantage to 21-0. A long drive to open the fourth quarter following an interception extended the lead to 28-0.Â
Benedictine managed just 264 yards in the loss.
Dylan Sigel caught seven passes while
Nathan Rillo reeled in six.
Gregory Hoard rushed 14 times for 67 yards. The defense was led by 11 tackles from
Tyler Walker and
Sergio Ayala added 10.
Benedictine (1-3, 1-2 NACC) visits Rockford next week.
