The Benedictine University women's basketball team was unable to overcome a tough start in dropping a 69-49 decision at Lakeland in the final road game on Saturday afternoon. Lakeland scored the first nine points of the game and did not look back.
Sara Smith finished with nine points and seven rebounds.
Charsan McCory came off the bench to also finish with nine points. Benedictine won the battle of the boards 43-40 but shot only 27 percent in the contest.
