The Benedictine University baseball team finished 5-3 in Florida against a daunting schedule, ending the trip on Saturday morning with a tough 4-2 loss to Wheaton (Mass.) who has now won six straight and owns an 8-2 mark on the year.
Nick Kosmetatos threw six shutout innings before Wheaton plated four runs in the top of the seventh.
Brennan Fisher knocked home
Ryan Doubek in the bottom of the eighth to cut into the deficit and an unearned run came home in the ninth but Benedictine stranded the tying runs on base. Kosmetatos worked seven innings, walking four and striking out four but suffered the loss.
Kevin Bushnell finished with three hits while Fisher and Doubek both tallied a pair as Benedictine finished with eight.
