The Benedictine University baseball team reached 20 wins on the season with a Friday afternoon home sweep of St. Norbert in two seven-inning contests by scores of 15-5 and 12-1.
Cole Wilson hit a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth in the opener to break open an 8-5 contest.
Ryan Doubek ended the game with a three-run double. Benedictine fell behind 1-0 but plated five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead. Benedictine finished with 17 hits, six of which were for extra bases.
Peter Turelli and
Alex Cameron also homered. Wilson finished 4-for-4 with three runs and four RBIs.
Logan Gregorio totaled three hits.
Andrew Kurcz earned the win on the mound, tossing six innings and allowing two earned runs with four walks and five strikeouts. All nine members of the lineup posted hits.
Benedictine scored five runs in the first of the second contest to set the tone. Gregorio belted a two-run homer and
Kyle Williams posted a three-run double in the inning. Turelli tripled with the bases loaded in the second to make the score 8-0. Eight of the 10 hits for Benedictine were for extra bases. Doubek doubled and homered as did Gregorio while Turelli notched a double and a triple. Turelli was 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs.
Andrew Tenison made his first career start on the mound and tossed a complete game, allowing just a third inning run while walking three and striking out four.
