The Benedictine University football team allowed just 176 yards of offense but turned the ball over seven times in suffering a 14-0 loss to St. Norbert at home on Saturday.
A bad snap on the second possession of the game for Benedictine allowed St. Norbert to recover the fumble and start at the Benedictine two-yardline. Three plays later St. Norbert was in the endzone for the only time on offense, opening a 7-0 lead with 9:29 remaining in the opening quarter. Evan Wydajewski interception was returned for a touchdown late in the first to account for the final. The first half saw Benedictine turn the ball over three times, punt once and stop on fourth down on the other.
Benedictine was stopped on the St. Norbert 15 in their lone drive of the third. The team threw three interceptions in the fourth quarter, unable to find a way to put points on the board.
Benedictine managed just 268 yards of offense in the game, 220 of which came through the air. The ground game was held to 48 yards on 31 carries. Wydajewski was 16-for-32 with 220 yards and four picks.
Dylan Sigel netted 22 yards on the ground with
Blake Shoddie adding 20. Jason Moore caught four passes for 61 yards.
Alexander Corbett snared five passes.
Tyler Walker totaled 14 tackles to lead the defense.
Jake Diamantos added 11.
Joshua Coats posted an interception.
Benedictine (3-3, 1-3 NACC) concludes the home portion of the schedule next Saturday against Wisconsin Lutheran.
